Devon’s Top Attractions have plenty to keep everyone entertained this May Half Term with a huge variety of special events and activities planned.  There are more than 40 of Devon’s top visitor attractions with masses of marvellous May half term fun taking place.

There’s lots of outdoor fun at Devon’s National Trust’s properties.  Head to Castle Drogo and follow the Flower trail, hunt around the garden and grounds and find the boxes to identify seeds and their flowers.  Or join the Killerton Half Term Trail and see what you and your children can discover. While out at Arlington Court enjoy one of their Family Ranger Days. Get mucky, pick up new skills and have fun with all the family.

There’s more outdoor fun at Diggerland, where you can drive and operate REAL diggers, dumpers and other full-size construction machinery. It’s the perfect destination for action, fun and a thrill-packed family day out. They have over 20 different rides and drives and an array of other additional activities to get hands on with, the ultimate adventure day out.  

Masses of Half Term fun awaits you at Powderham Castle. There’s a Wizardry Quiz night where for one night only you can prove your knowledge of the Potterverse. Or make magical medieval memories at their magnificent LEGO Brick Kingdom, complete with fiery dragons and brave knights.  Or watch the spectacular jousting, witness this noble and historic sport against the authentic backdrop of the Castle and Powderham estate.  

Head to Pennywell Farm for Unicorn Week, they will be visited by Unicorns who will be sure to put an extra special sparkle into Half Term. There’ll be a Fizz Pop Science workshop too on 31st May, with science friction and a bubble show, so get your goggles on!  Plus, there’s a week full of action-packed farmyard fun, animal antics, rustic rides and super shows with plenty of time to cuddle those adorable animals! 

The Big Sheep have an awesome Half Term full of family fun. Ride on Rampage the rollercoaster or join in the whole host of other special activities going on. There are 12 hilarious shows and some of the most unique events ever seen in the UK.  Enjoy the Bubbilicious Bubble Weekend, be amazed by big bubbles, square bubbles, caterpillar bubbles, wiggly worm bubbles and yes of course, ‘sheep bubbles’.  

There’s all-inclusive Half Term fun at Becky Falls, with lots of hands-on animal encounter shows and feeding sessions. Follow the children’s stamp trail and win a prize with explorer backpacks available to borrow to help young explorers discover the surrounding woodland.  

Step back in time on the Bank Holiday weekend at the Milky Way Adventure Centre and see the Time Travellers - Professor Chronological and his assistant Meridian Nanosecond. Take the challenges, solve the clues and help the professor repair the time machine. It’s both educational and entertaining fun for all the family and don’t forget while you are there to enjoy all the other amazing rides, slides, shows. Chase from PAW Patrol will be there on 2nd June!

Head to Morwellham Quay over the Bank Holiday weekend and Meet the ‘Ragged Victorians’ as they hang out interacting with the public. Make a bread roll, find copper ore, go to the Victorian School, pan for gold or dress up as a Victorian. There’s so much to do, camping is also available so why not stay the weekend?  

Families and children will love the ‘Dinosaur Tram Adventure’ at Seaton Tramway, with music, stories, fossil dig and a dinosaur activity area. Help Professor Percival uncover the secrets of a land that time forgot, and every child will receive a goody bag. They also have their Fairy Special and Pirate themed trams running over Half Term too!

It’s Kids TV Week at Crealy offering an entertaining week of marvellous mini-shows.  Each day you can enjoy an entertaining family friendly show from one of your favourite TV heroes. Basil Brush, Sid Sloane, the Octonauts, Theo the Mouse and Wendy and Fireman Sam will all be there on different days and don’t forget Crealy’s a full day out with over 60 other rides and attractions!  

Over at World of Country Life there’s loads of swash- bucklin’ fun going on with their popular Pirate Week. There’ll be pirate themed activities galore and their pirate ship play area will play host to an amazing pirate sword fighting show.  Plus, all the usual daily activities to fill your day with family fun.  

There’s lots of Half Term fun at the Royal Albert Museum in Exeter, join a Little Explorer craft session, make a world cultures mask or catch story time in the Gallery.  

The annual ‘Picnic at the Park’ is back at River Dart Country Park on Sunday 3rd June, Get ready for a whole host of fun activities lined up for all the family. Try out the assault course, clayzer and Dare Devil activities and enjoy the fun dog show, a full day of family fun but be sure to book your tickets. 

There’s lots going on for the adults too. South Devon Railway have just the ticket with their Spring Ale Festival. A feast of steam and diesel trains will be running all over the Bank Holiday weekend and at Staverton Station, the midway point on the line, the beer and cider festival will be in full swing.  Adults can get a Driver’s Eye Experience at Seaton Tramway and get a taste of what it is like to drive one of their trams.   

While over at Coldharbour Mill and Country Park they have a steam day on 28th May where they bring the past back to life giving you a unique glimpse into the industrial revolution.

There’s a ’Classic and Vintage Vehicle Rally’ on at Pecorama on 27th May, which promises an outstanding display of vehicles from the last century and a perfect day out for all those car enthusiasts.  While in the evening of 27th its Band Night aboard Stuart Line Cruises. Dance under the stars to the sound of live music from local bands while cruising aboard the Pride of Exmouth and taking in the breath-taking views of the beautiful River Exe.
